What is rock climbing?

Get to know the three types of climbing

BOULDERING

BOULDERING

Description:
Becoming more and more popular, bouldering is a type of climbing where the climber is not attached by rope and harness. The walls are smaller and are equipped with 12'' foam mats in case of a fall. An accreditation is not required to boulder! It is a sport that can be done alone or with friends and there are routes for all skill levels!

Prerequisite:
No prerequisites

TOP ROPE

TOP ROPE

Description:
Top rope is a type of climbing performed with a rope and harness. The ropes are already attached to the top of the route and climbers rarely experience big falls. Top rope climbing requires at least 2 people. The belayer must be accredited at Vertige. This can be done by following the top rope course or by passing the accreditation on your first visit.

Prerequisite:
Top rope course or accreditation
Reserve a course

LEAD

LEAD

Description:
Lead climbing is reserved for experienced climbers. Just like top rope, lead requires a rope and harness but the main difference is the rope is not attached at the top of your route. During their ascent, the climber will attach the rope to quickdraws. Falls in lead are usually farther and much more ''impressive''.

Prerequisite:
Take a lead course or pass the accreditation
(Reserve a course: 819-340-1810)
